The week ahead: Penguins season is back (and so are the injuries)

The Pittsburgh Penguins are entering the league's first 84-game schedule since the early 1990s already grappling with a mounting injury list before the regular season begins. Sidelined players include Ben Kindel, Bryan Rust, Blake Lizotte, and Justin Brazeu, alongside Andrei Kuzmenko missing time due to personal circumstances.

Their campaign opens Wednesday in Philadelphia against the Flyers, renewing a first-round playoff rivalry from the previous year. Meanwhile, the Flyers head into the matchup relying on a young core featuring Matvei Michkov and Porter Martone, and hoping for a repeat performance from standout goaltender Dan Vladar.
