The Mountain West Race Is Taking Shape—and North Dakota State and New Mexico Are Rising Fast!

The opening month of the college football season has highlighted North Dakota State as the sole undefeated squad in the Mountain West. Meanwhile, New Mexico secured a commanding 42-18 victory against New Mexico State in the Rio Grande Rivalry, propelled by a strong defensive performance that included multiple turnovers and sacks.

Coach Jason Eck streamlined the offensive strategy prior to the matchup by naming Toa Fa'avae as the primary quarterback, moving away from a previous multi-player rotation. Fa'avae delivered a balanced performance on the ground and through the air to guide the Lobos to their third consecutive win over their instate rivals.
