The Chiefs finally found the explosive run game they’ve been missing

Kansas City unveiled a revitalized rushing attack during its 2026 season opener, securing a decisive 31-10 triumph against the Denver Broncos on Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium. Running back Kenneth Walker III made an immediate splash in his team debut after joining the franchise as a free agent in March.

The 25-year-old former Seattle Seahawks ball-carrier logged 23 carries, racking up either 127 or 173 rushing yards alongside two total scores, one of which came off an Andy Reid trick play design.

Throughout the contest, Kansas City held the lead from start to finish, closing out the victory behind an unanswered 24-3 scoring surge. Walker reached historic production levels not witnessed during Patrick Mahomes' tenure as starting quarterback, achieving milestones within the opening two quarters that no Chiefs runner had accomplished across a full contest since 2021 and establishing franchise rushing marks unseen since 2023.
