An 18th birthday celebration reached new heights for a Manvel High School student when he stepped onto the gridiron during his team's senior night contest against Alvin. Mason Wisnoski, who lives with Down syndrome, capped off a day that already included a skydiving trip by taking a handoff and dashing thirty yards for his first career touchdown.
Following the score, teammates surrounded the senior, hoisted him into the air, and escorted him off the pitch in a scene reminiscent of cinema.
Mavericks head coach Kirk Martin orchestrated the special moment following a suggestion from his spouse, and opposing coach Matthew Bass readily agreed to the sportsmanship display. Wisnoski, a fixture on the sidelines who assists with equipment, flags, and hydration duties, learned of the surprise just days prior.
His parents, Eddie and Stephanie, expressed deep gratitude for the gesture, noting that the program consistently ensures their son feels fully included and valued as an integral member of the squad.
