Texans place LB Jake Hummel on IR

The Houston franchise announced Saturday that linebacker Jake Hummel has been moved to the injured reserve list. He sustained a groin injury during the opening matchup against the Buffalo Bills, an outing where he logged seventeen snaps on special teams.

Because of the designation, Hummel is required to sit out a minimum of four upcoming contests. To help fill the roster gap for the weekend fixture against the Indianapolis Colts, the club promoted wide receiver Lewis Bond and safety George Odum from the practice squad.
