Following a disappointing defeat last week, the Tennessee football team bounced back to secure a 24-14 triumph over Auburn for their initial conference win of the campaign. Running back DeSean Bishop spearheaded the offensive surge by racking up 34 carries for a personal-best 220 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Dejuan Lane anchored the defensive effort with nine total tackles, two and a half tackles for loss, and an interception.
After a scoreless opening quarter that featured a flurry of punts, kicker Cooper Ranvier put the Vols on the board with a 36-yard field goal. Head coach Josh Heupel opted to bench quarterback Faizon Brandon after an interception, inserting George MacIntyre in his place.
Auburn capitalized on the turnover when Byrum Brown ran for a touchdown to take a narrow lead into intermission, but Tennessee pulled away in the second half behind Bishop's dominant ground performance.
