Tennessee's Faizon Brandon benched for George MacIntyre vs Auburn

During the opening half against Auburn on Saturday, October 3, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel pulled starting quarterback Faizon Brandon in favor of backup George MacIntyre. Brandon struggled throughout the first two quarters, completing three of eight passing attempts for zero yards, throwing one interception, and losing yardage on the ground alongside a fumble.

Heupel explained to the television broadcast at halftime that the freshman signal-caller simply was not executing and did not feel one hundred percent. MacIntyre entered the contest and completed all five of his passes for 38 yards before the intermission.
