The Phoenix Suns have made another roster move, claiming power forward Drew Timme off waivers after waiving Kobe Brea and CJ Huntley earlier in the day. Timme, a former Gonzaga standout who went undrafted in 2023, enters his third NBA season with a career averaging 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in two prior stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.
His most productive NBA campaign came during nine games with Brooklyn in 2024–25, where he averaged 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds, though his role with the Lakers last season was far more limited, with just 3.4 points and 1.2 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game. The 6’9” forward, nicknamed “Union President,” spent the preseason on an Exhibit 10 contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves before being waived.
Timme’s strengths lie in his versatility as a power forward, offering passing ability, defensive presence, and a reliable scoring touch near the basket, though his perimeter shooting remains a developmental area—he shot just 25% from three-point range in college and 33.3% in the NBA. The Suns, now fielding three two-way contract players, appear to be prioritizing his skill and size over long-range shooting, adding depth to a roster still shaping up for the upcoming season.
