Former national team skipper Sunil Gavaskar has called on the BCCI to broaden the responsibilities of the Cricket Advisory Committee to tackle persisting issues across domestic competitions. Gavaskar recently voiced frustration after Ishan Kishan's East Zone squad claimed the Duleep Trophy decider purely via a first-innings advantage, a regulation facing mounting scrutiny.

While Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape were brought onto the three-member body back in 2022 to interview and select selectors and team head coaches, the committee's current operational standing remains uncertain.
