As the Board of Control for Cricket in India searches for a successor to Ajit Agarkar, legendary player Sunil Gavaskar has issued a warning regarding the heavy burdens associated with leading the national selection committee. The upcoming chairman will face immediate pressure when assembling squads for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, which features five T20 Internationals, three One Day Internationals, and a pair of Test matches.
According to Gavaskar, the chief selector inevitably absorbs all public backlash when tough exclusion decisions are made, and he may even encounter internal sabotage from fellow panelists while still having to front the media alone.
