Sloppy mistakes cost Celtic again as they lose Europa League opener

Celtic slumped to consecutive losses after Ferencvaros claimed a 3-1 victory in Glasgow during their Europa League curtain-raiser. Despite controlling early play, the hosts fell behind when Liam Scales accidentally diverted Bamidele Yusuf's attempt inward following Kieran Tierney's botched clearance.

Mika Baur temporarily leveled proceedings just prior to the interval, yet Kristoffer Zachariassen promptly restored the Hungarian outfit's advantage by directing the ball past Viljami Sinisalo after Yusuf outmaneuvered both Tierney and Callum McGregor.

Fresh Scotland call-up Colby Donovan then committed a critical lapse shortly after the restart, allowing Daniel Arzani to find the upper corner. Martin O'Neill's squad generated several late openings through the likes of Sebastian Tounekti and Benjamin Nygren, but Adam Varga and the visiting backline held firm.

The setback leaves Celtic searching for answers ahead of their forthcoming Scottish Premiership encounter with Rangers at Celtic Park.
