Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is targeting a comeback to Pakistan's Test lineup by featuring in the domestic President’s Trophy for Khan Research Laboratories. The 26-year-old left-arm quick had suffered a drop in speed and movement following recent physical setbacks, leading to his exclusion from touring squads for series against the West Indies and England.

His domestic outing marks his first appearance in multi-day cricket at this level in seven years, having debuted for KRL back in 2017. Meanwhile, his national side faces a looming 3-0 series sweep in England heading into day four at Edgbaston, with Pakistan dropping three of their last four matches overall.

Afridi emphasized that competing in red-ball matches remains his top focus following a quiet two-month stretch away from the sport. He noted valuable guidance received from his older brother, Riaz Afridi, on how spending extended spells on the field sharpens consistency in length and builds self-belief.
