The Tennessee Volunteers’ upcoming SEC showdown with Arkansas on Saturday has taken an unexpected turn with the release of the team’s initial availability report. True freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon, who has been dealing with the aftereffects of a shoulder injury sustained during the team’s previous game against Texas, was listed as questionable for the matchup.
Brandon, who endured 10 sacks in that contest, has struggled with the lingering effects of the injury, as head coach Billy Heupel acknowledged earlier this week. His status remains uncertain, with reports suggesting starting quarterback George MacIntyre is expected to take the field against the Razorbacks.
Running back Javin Gordon, who missed Tennessee’s last game against Auburn, is the only other player marked questionable for Saturday’s contest. The Volunteers will likely provide further clarity on Brandon’s availability as the week progresses.
