Head coach Sean Payton noted an imbalance in the plan, pointing out an overabundance of passing attempts compared to rushing plays.

The lopsided Week 1 division loss to a lineup featuring Patrick Mahomes sparked immediate backlash from observers and fans questioning the choice to delegate play-calling responsibilities away from Payton.

Despite mounting outside criticism, Payton expressed faith in Webb while speaking with Colin Cowherd, describing their working relationship as constructive. Moving forward, however, the head coach acknowledged that his input will not be limited to advice, indicating that certain future play calls will become outright requirements rather than mere recommendations.
