Scotland fans allowed to buy alcohol at upcoming games

Scotland supporters holding tickets in the level five east bronze and west bronze concourses will be permitted to purchase drinks before upcoming matches at Hampden Park. Drinks service will begin at 17:45 prior to a 19:45 start, with purchasing concluding at 19:00 and attendees given until 19:15 to finish their beverages.

The decision marks a continuation of a trial program, following two earlier exhibition matches that operated under identical terms without any problems.

Licensing attorney Stephen McGowan presented the proposal to the local licensing authority, framing the initiative as a cautious and phased endeavor focused on spectator safety while collecting operational insights. This ongoing test represents a notable development for the sport nationally, as standard stadium alcohol sales have remained barred across Scottish football grounds since 1981.
