San Diego Padres will host the Chicago Cubs in National League Wild Card series

Following a late summer surge featuring a dominant winning stretch, San Diego secured home-field advantage for the upcoming postseason opener. A decisive victory over Arizona clinched a spot at Petco Park, powered by critical home runs from Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts alongside late insurance runs driven in by Jake Cronenworth.

This milestone marks three consecutive campaigns with ninety victories and three straight playoff qualifications for the franchise. The upcoming best-of-three series provides a chance at redemption against the Chicago Cubs, who eliminated San Diego in the previous postseason meeting.
