Sam Fuld rejects A’s, will remain with Phillies

Philadelphia Phillies president of business operations Sam Fuld has declined an opportunity to join the Oakland Athletics, ending his consideration for the team’s president of baseball operations role. According to reports, Fuld was approached by the A’s for the position but ultimately chose to remain with the Phillies organization.

His current title, president of business operations, distinguishes his role from the baseball operations leadership he was offered elsewhere. The decision comes as teams across MLB continue to reshuffle front-office leadership ahead of the offseason.

Meanwhile, speculation persists about whether Fuld could eventually take over baseball operations duties in Philadelphia, depending on the future plans of longtime GM Dave Dombrowski.
