The New Orleans Saints escaped a late-game collapse to defeat the New York Giants 34–27 in a dramatic Sunday contest, ending a three-game losing streak. After trailing 34–10 with under 12 minutes remaining, the Giants turned to backup quarterback J.J.
McCarthy, who led a 17-point comeback attempt. McCarthy’s first drive ended with an interception, but he followed it with a 28-yard scramble into Saints territory, setting up a late drive.
His 11-of-21 performance for 243 yards and a touchdown to tight end Isaiah Likely—including 243 fourth-quarter passing yards, the third-most since 2020—kept the Giants in the game. However, a missed fourth-down pass to Likely sealed the Saints’ victory, as the defense forced a punt with seconds left.
The Giants’ offense struggled beyond Likely and wideout Malik Nabers, who combined for 18 catches and 264 yards, while Saints quarterback Tyler Shough threw three touchdowns and rushed for 175 yards alongside the running back trio of Kendre Miller, Alvin Kamara, and C.J. Donaldson.
Jameis Winston’s two interceptions further complicated the Saints’ offense, raising questions about his starting role moving forward.
