Rivalries renewed: The derby games back this season

Millwall and West Ham United are set to renew their historic rivalry this Saturday at 12:30 BST, facing each other for the first time in nearly 15 years. Originating in 1899 with an FA Cup tie won 2-1 by Millwall Athletic, the matchup has featured just 60 all-time encounters, with only seven staged across the past 33 years.

Their most recent shared campaign occurred during the 2011-12 season, where a scoreless draw preceded a 2-1 victory for the visiting side later that term.

The current interval represents the second-longest drought in the fixture's 127-year background, trailing only a 31-year pause that concluded in 1978. Traveling supporters will be hoping to reverse a prolonged slump in Bermondsey, where their side has failed to secure a victory since December 1988, having posted two draws and three losses over their subsequent five visits.
