Amit Grover, the joint secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, has formally expressed reservations regarding the selection of Manu Nayyar and Varun Sood for coaching and selection roles within the regional cricket setup. In a communication directed to the Cricket Advisory Committee on September 25, Grover questioned whether both individuals satisfied the mandatory qualifications for their assigned positions, which include a senior men's selection post for Nayyar and an assistant coaching role with the under-19 men's squad for Sood.
An unnamed official defended the recruitment process by stating that all established guidelines were strictly followed, noting that Nayyar has not yet finished his five-year tenure and Sood recently concluded his playing career.
Alongside those contested appointments, the association confirmed several other staff placements, including the reappointment of Vijay Dahiya to lead the Ranji Trophy squad as head coach. Overall, the administration designated 40 different coaching and performance staff slots across various age divisions for both men's and women's teams.
Grover additionally voiced apprehension regarding the retention of familiar faces on the selection panel following lackluster team outings, prompting him to advise the advisory committee to scrutinize candidate records and guidelines more thoroughly before finalizing any decisions.
