Red Sox vs Yankees Wild Card Series Preview: 2 Wild Card 2 Furious

Boston and New York are set for another postseason clash at Yankee Stadium as Payton Tolle takes the mound for the Red Sox in the opening game. Tolle emerged as a rookie sensation this season following a brief debut last year, posting an ERA around 3.00 alongside 171 strikeouts over 148.2 innings after returning from an early-season development stint.

Meanwhile, the Yankees counter with Cam Schlittler, who built upon a 73-inning campaign in 2025 by delivering a dominant 193.3-inning regular season that likely positions him for a Cy Young award. For Game 2, Boston will rely on veteran starter Sonny Gray, who previously picked up victories in both of his regular-season appearances against New York.
