Cooper Pratt, a 22-year-old Brewers rookie, established a new rookie record for the World Series by recording a hit in six consecutive plate appearances. During Game 5 at Tropicana Field, he singled to surpass Brian Doyle's 1978 record of five straight hits.
This streak, which began with a double in Game 4, included a home run in the 12th inning and two singles in Game 5.
Pat Murphy, the Brewers manager, praised the young player's growth and ability to handle the pressure of a long-term contract. Pratt has since recorded eight hits in 18 at-bats, hitting .444 in the series, with three of those hits being for extra bases.
He is the first player since David Ortiz in 2013 to achieve six straight hits in the World Series, joining a small group that includes Goose Goslin, Norm Cash, and Thurman Munson, while Billy Hatcher remains the all-time record holder with seven.
