Michigan football is intensifying its recruitment efforts for two standout prospects, both of whom could significantly bolster the Wolverines’ receiving corps. The program has ramped up communication with Chad Willis, a highly regarded 6-foot-3, 215-pound wideout from Orchard Lake St.
Mary’s who remains committed to North Carolina. Willis, originally pledged to Cincinnati before reopening his recruitment, visited Ann Arbor during Michigan’s September game against Iowa and expressed admiration for the performances of quarterbacks JJ Buchanan and Andrew Marsh, particularly their reliance on the passing game.
Michigan’s coaching staff, including receivers coach Simon and offensive coordinator Perry, has since engaged directly with Willis, emphasizing how his skill set aligns with their offensive system. Though Willis has reiterated his commitment to North Carolina, Michigan’s renewed push—highlighted by increased contact and personalized recruitment—keeps the possibility of a late flip alive as the Wolverines seek to retain in-state talent at a critical position group.
Meanwhile, the Wolverines are locked in a tight battle with Utah for Jackson Doman, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end from Oregon who decommitted from BYU earlier this year. Doman, who is targeting a decision by November, has narrowed his options to Michigan and Utah, citing family ties to the Whittingham coaching tree and Utah’s longstanding recruitment.
Michigan will host Doman’s parents and cousin for the October 24 game against Indiana, offering a prime opportunity to make a lasting impression. Despite interest from SEC programs, the two schools remain the frontrunners, with Doman’s decision looming as a pivotal moment for Michigan’s 2025 class.
