The Baltimore Ravens have re-signed kicker Jake Moody to the practice squad, adding another layer of competition for starter Tyler Loop after a costly fourth-quarter miss in Cleveland. Loop, who has shown flashes of brilliance—including a career-high 64-yard field goal in Week 4 and a clutch 56-yard game-winning kick in Rio—struggled with three misses inside 50 yards over the past three weeks, including a wide-left 49-yard attempt in Sunday’s loss.
His field-goal accuracy has dipped to 76.9% this season, down from an 88.2% mark as a rookie, raising questions about his consistency despite his improved long-range success. Moody, who briefly held the Ravens’ kicking job in Week 1 before being released, returns after a mixed 2024 campaign marked by inconsistency, though he closed last year strong with a 10-for-11 stretch in Washington.
With Loop’s form wavering and Moody’s experience as a backup, Ravens coach Jesse Minter may soon need to decide whether to give the veteran another shot at the starting role.
