The New York Rangers have made notable changes ahead of the upcoming campaign by placing goaltender Dylan Garand and forward Taylor Raddysh on waivers. Following Jonathan Quick's retirement, Garand had been expected to secure the backup netminder position behind Igor Shesterkin, but the front office subsequently traded for Joonas Korpisalo.
Although head coach Mike Sullivan weighed the possibility of keeping three goaltenders initially, the club ultimately decided that Garand would benefit more from logging primary minutes with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League.
Additionally, Raddysh finds himself on waivers despite having recently inked a two-year, $3 million agreement during the offseason, following a campaign where he contributed 19 points across 68 appearances. With these roster spots opening up, several other players including Matt Rempe, Jaroslav Chmelař, Alberts Šmits, and Scott Morrow are positioned to claim places on the opening-night squad.
