Ramos could make La Liga return - Monday's gossip

October 18, 2026

The transfer market continues to heat up with several high-profile names linked to potential moves. Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos, now 40 and a free agent, could make a surprising return to Spanish football by joining Getafe, marking a potential homecoming for the veteran defender.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly vying for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, with sources suggesting a transfer fee north of £100 million could be on the table. Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz, however, has reportedly dismissed any interest from Chelsea, despite the Blues’ manager Xabi Alonso previously coaching him at Bayer Leverkusen, with the German midfielder showing no intention of leaving Anfield anytime soon.

Tottenham Hotspur remain active in their search for new talent, with reports indicating they are monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt’s Younes Ebnoutalib and Freiburg’s Yuito Suzuki, a Japanese midfielder. Newcastle United, meanwhile, have set their sights on Valencia’s young midfielder David Otorbi, while Barcelona are eyeing Benfica defender Daniel Banjaqui, though they may face stiff competition from Premier League giants like Newcastle and Manchester United.

The Catalans are also in a three-way battle with Real Madrid and Liverpool for Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch, adding another layer of intrigue to the summer transfer window. Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on Barcelona’s young defender Xavi Espart, though his significant release clause could complicate any potential move.
