Rain arrives with Middlesex needing one Glos wicket

Inclement weather thwarted Middlesex's push for victory on the final day at Bristol, allowing Gloucestershire to escape with a draw despite losing nine wickets. Facing a target of 362, the home team tumbled to 145-9 as Toby Roland-Jones grabbed 4-30 and Ryan Higgins claimed 3-35.

The visitors appeared poised to seal the win, but stubborn resistance from tenth-wicket duo Matt Taylor and JT Langridge spanned seven overs before umpires Hassan Adnan and Ben Pevarall halted play at 16:10 BST with 41 overs still remaining. Middlesex earned 13 points ahead of their One-Day Cup final against Leicestershire, while Gloucestershire claimed 12 points in their first drawn contest of the campaign.

Earlier, Middlesex restarted their second innings at 298-6 and advanced to 361, propelled by Harry Duke's aggressive 94 from 116 balls. Loan seamer Langridge halted Duke's charge short of consecutive hundreds and collected 5-87, his second five-wicket return in three appearances.

Gloucestershire's run chase then hit instant trouble at 18-3, including a pair for Miles Hammond against Roland-Jones, before James Bracey crossed the 1,000-run threshold for his second straight red-ball season.
