The 2026 China Open WTA final will feature a clash between two rising stars, with Mirra Andreeva and Qinwen Zheng set to battle for the title. Andreeva, who will climb to World No.
3 in the updated rankings, has shown strong form in Beijing, while Zheng—playing in front of a home crowd during her birthday week—aims to make history as the first Chinese woman to win the singles title. The last finalist from China was Chen Li in 1996, adding weight to Zheng’s quest.
Both players have overcome recent challenges: Andreeva with her maiden Grand Slam win at Roland Garros, Zheng after recovering from an elbow injury that dropped her out of the Top 100. Their only prior meeting came at the 2024 China Open, where Zheng secured a three-set victory despite losing the first set.
With Andreeva as the higher-ranked favorite, the pressure will be on Zheng to deliver a triumph for her country. The match, scheduled for October 10, will also spotlight Nike, whose ambassadors both players are, having released special merchandise for them.
