The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that the twelfth edition of the Pakistan Super League will take place from March 18 to May 2, 2027. Following a preference poll distributed by email, the majority of the eight competing franchises backed this spring window over a January and February alternative, meaning the tournament will overlap with the Indian Premier League for a third consecutive year.
The decision was formalized after discussions involving Walee Technologies, which holds the competition's broadcast rights through to 2029 and owns the Rawalpindiz franchise, raising concerns that post-Ramadan scheduling impacts advertiser budgets.
Despite the commercial arguments for an earlier start, the board ruled out January and February due to logistical hurdles created by heavy winter fog affecting visibility in Punjab venues such as Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The shift to a March-May calendar originally began in 2025 due to overlapping ICC commitments involving the Champions Trophy and the T20 World Cup, permanently altering the league's traditional February-March window maintained since its inception in 2016.
