Lauren Price has ruled out a rematch with Katie Shields, despite the Welsh boxer’s recent title defenses and the two having been linked in a potential two-fight deal earlier this year. Shields, who reclaimed her middleweight titles in August, had called out Price after her victory over Pineiro, but Price’s focus remains firmly on her lone career loss—delivered by Shields in London in April.
That defeat at light-middleweight remains Price’s only setback in a 15-fight professional career, making it a defining challenge for the unified champion as she prepares for her 11th fight since turning pro.
Price, an Olympic gold medalist, emphasized her determination to stand on her own merits, dismissing the Shields showdown as ill-timed. She cited logistical hurdles—including a lack of financial incentive and a desire to fight in the U.S.
and Wales—while Shields refused to travel to Britain. Though the rematch clause was absent, Price stressed there’s no urgency, as other compelling opponents remain on the horizon.
The fight with Shields, she noted, will occur only when it aligns with her career trajectory and strategic goals.
