Dubois v Wardley 2 - blood, bravery & a heavyweight gamble

Daniel Dubois will defend his WBO heavyweight title against Fabio Wardley in a high-stakes rematch at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday. The bout follows Dubois’s brutal 11th-round stoppage victory over Wardley in May, a fight that left Wardley visibly bloodied and visibly shaken.

Despite the severity of the punishment—including a reopened nasal injury—Wardley has opted for an immediate return, betting his career on reversing the result. A win could propel him toward becoming Britain’s next crossover heavyweight star, while another defeat risks further scrutiny over his durability and world-class status.

The stakes are clear: victory means a path to elite competition, but another close loss or stoppage could raise lasting questions about his resilience.
