Preview: New York Rangers vs New York Islanders — Oct 6

The NHL’s first-ever New York derby of the 2026-27 season kicks off with a late-night clash as the Rangers (34-39-9) welcome the hotter-starting Islanders (43-34-5) to the ice. The Rangers, still searching for consistency midway through the campaign, will look to end a recent skid against a division rival already locked into playoff contention.

With both teams battling for positioning in the Eastern Conference, Tuesday’s 11:30 PM UTC showdown at Madison Square Garden carries added weight—especially for the Rangers, who’ve struggled to capitalize on close games this term.
