Preston closing in on Alexander appointment

Preston is reportedly moving closer to hiring a new manager who currently leads the League One standings with the Bantams after securing five victories across their initial seven league fixtures of the campaign. The prospective boss assumed his current managerial duties in late 2023, subsequently guiding his squad to promotion from League Two during his inaugural full year at the helm and reaching the play-offs following a fourth-place finish in the 2025-26 season.

His managerial career also includes prior stints leading Fleetwood, Scunthorpe, Salford, Motherwell, and MK Dons, with his current agreement running through the conclusion of next season. Meanwhile, his present side prepares for a fixture against Reading following a postponement this weekend, while Preston looks ahead to welcoming Millwall to their home ground when league play resumes on Saturday, 10 October.
