The Pittsburgh Steelers have added former New England Patriots linebacker Marte Mapu to their practice squad, according to Yahoo Sports. Mapu, who was selected by New England in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, played in all 17 games last season, primarily contributing on special teams.
His defensive resume includes an interception in each of the past three campaigns, along with five forced fumbles since 2023. The move comes as the Steelers have struggled at the linebacker position, missing a combined five tackles in their Week 4 outing against the Cleveland Browns.
Through four weeks, Pittsburgh ranks third in the league in missed tackles, underscoring a defensive unit in need of reinforcement.
