Pittsburgh Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi has reaffirmed his confidence in backup quarterback Holden Geriner following a shaky performance in a 35-33 loss to North Carolina on Saturday. Geriner, who stepped in after star quarterback Mason Heintschel suffered a season-ending knee injury against Virginia Tech in early October, completed 44 of 65 passes for 219 yards but threw two interceptions, including a costly fourth-down throw that fell incomplete in the final minutes.
Despite the struggles, Narduzzi emphasized continuity, stating Geriner would remain the starter for the upcoming ACC matchup with Boston College. The coach acknowledged Geriner’s strong start but noted inconsistencies in the second half, particularly in pocket presence and accuracy on open throws.
With freshman Corey Dailey as the only other active quarterback on the roster, Geriner’s experience and leadership remain critical as Pitt looks to rebound from the loss.
