Pistons vs. Timberwolves preview: Getting a look at new-look T Wolves

The Timberwolves enter preseason with a bold new look after acquiring LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets, reshaping their roster around Anthony Edwards amid speculation about his future with the team. The Pistons, meanwhile, face uncertainty with key players like Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren, who sat out early games as they adjust to contract negotiations and team dynamics.

The Timberwolves will likely showcase Edwards and Ball together for the first time this season, though their rotation remains fluid with an extra preseason game against the Bulls looming. For the Pistons, Daniss Jenkins and Paul Reed may anchor the lineup if Cunningham and Duren remain sidelined, with bench players like Ebuka Okorie and Tolu Smith—who stood out in Detroit’s overtime loss to the Wizards—potentially pushing for more minutes early on.

The matchup at Target Center on October 14 offers a first glimpse of the Timberwolves’ revamped approach, though preseason lineups often differ from regular-season plans.
