Phillies scrape into MLB playoffs after week of ‘living hell in slow motion’

Following a turbulent week that featured four consecutive defeats and almost erased their comfortable standing, the Philadelphia Philadelphia secured the final National League wildcard spot with a 7-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. The decisive triumph at the weekend halted a perilous downward spiral that had threatened to derail their postseason aspirations and kept the chasing Arizona Diamondbacks at bay.

Pitcher Zack Wheeler delivered a standout performance reminiscent of a crucial postseason contest, while teammates Bryce Harper and Edmundo Sosa each contributed home runs to power the squad across the finish line.
