ESPN commentator Paul Finebaum launched a scathing critique of USC head coach Lincoln Riley following the Trojans 41-27 defeat against Oregon. Finebaum labeled Riley an absolute fraud and pointed out that his 39-19 record through 58 games matches the disappointing mark of his predecessor Clay Helton.
The analyst argued that despite a massive buyout cost, moving on from the current leadership would benefit the program. The defeat marked the fifth consecutive loss for Southern California against the Ducks and fueled debates about whether the squad stands as the top program in Los Angeles.
Beyond the final score, Finebaum condemned the handling of an incident involving Dante Moore and Desman Stephens II. Stephens was ejected for a helmet hit on the opposing quarterback as he slid, but remained on the sideline after halftime.
While Oregon coach Dan Lanning praised his own players for preventing a brawl, Riley faced criticism for a delayed response before officially suspending Stephens for one game by Sunday.
