The New England Patriots placed veteran offensive lineman Greg Van Roten on injured reserve Tuesday, sidelining him for at least four games due to a thigh injury sustained during a recent loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Van Roten had started at right guard after Mike Onwenu suffered a broken ankle the previous week, leaving the team thin in the trenches and prompting Walter Rouse to step in for the remainder of the contest.
In corresponding roster moves, the Patriots also released linebacker Riley Wilson from the practice squad, leaving the team with two vacant spots on the active roster as they prepare to face the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on Sunday.
