Patrick Reed withdrew from the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club after a painful round that saw his neck, shoulder and left hand trouble him. He entered the second round with a four‑under 68 but quickly fell behind, going nine over for nine holes before pulling the plug when his hand swelled and he could not make a normal swing.
Reed said he initially feared a broken hand, but later tests in Texas pointed to a shoulder issue. The 2018 Masters champion missed two DP World Tour events but remains the points leader, with the top ten in the race earning 2027 PGA Tour cards. He hopes the extra week of rest will let him finish the season strong.
