The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially declined the over-50s squad's request to compete in the upcoming International Masters Cricket World Cup in India next January. Despite being the defending champions after their victory in Sri Lanka's previous tournament, the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, led by Fawad Ijaz, PVCA head, PVCA head Fawad Ijaz has since notified the organizers of their withdrawal to allow for a replacement team.
Fawad Ijaz, head of the PVCA, stated that although host nation assurances regarding security and visas were provided, the PCB and the relevant ministries have denied permission to travel to India. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the PCB chair, communicated this decision to the PVCA.
This decision follows a similar refusal by the Pakistan Hockey Federation to travel to India for the Asian Champions Trophy, which resulted in in its replacement by Bangladesh.
