Padres Wild Card roster predictions: Who’s in, who’s out

San Diego enters the postseason for their third consecutive year, securing home-field advantage against the Chicago Cubs for the Wild Card round despite dropping five of six regular-season meetings. Manager Craig Stammen faces difficult roster decisions with several athletes returning from the injured list just ahead of the opening game.

Position players under consideration include Ty France, Jake Cronenworth, Xander Bogaerts, Manny Machado, Dustin Harris, Jackson Merrill, Fernando Tatis Jr., Luis Campusano, Austin Hays, Gavin Sheets, Samad Taylor, Sung-Mun Song, Freddy Fermin, and Jase Bowen. Gavin Sheets brings notable power off the bench with 17 home runs and 48 RBIs despite missing time with left foot issues, while Miguel Andujar remains unavailable due to a fractured wrist.

The pitching staff features Michael King, Robbie Ray, Walker Buehler, Nick Pivetta, Randy Vasquez, David Morgan, Yuki Matsui, Bradgley Rodriguez, Wandy Peralta, Jason Adam, Adrian Morejon, and Mason Miller, though Casey Mize misses out due to an ankle injury.
