Padres get on top fast in all-around rout of Cubs

The San Diego Padres dominated the opening game of their National League Wild Card Series against the Chicago Cubs at Petco Park, cruising to an eight-run shutout behind a stellar pitching performance from Michael King and early home runs by Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado.

Looking to seal a series sweep and advance to the NLDS, San Diego turns to pitcher Nick Pivetta tonight, while the Cubs counter with Kevin Gausman in hopes of rebounding from a difficult stretch.
