Padres complete sweep of Cubs, advance to NLDS

The San Diego Padres secured a two-game series sweep against the Chicago Cubs with a 4-1 victory on Wednesday night, punching their ticket to the National League Division Series. Pinch-hitter Gavin Sheets delivered the decisive blow in the fourth inning by launching a two-run home run into the right field bleachers after entering the contest in place of Austin Hays.

Pitcher Nick Pivetta started the matchup for San Diego, while Kevin Gausman and Daniel Palencia handled pitching duties for Chicago before the Padres bullpen locked down the remainder of the game to advance.
