Oklahoma defensive MVP, standouts, key to rest of 2026

Through the first four weeks of the 2026 campaign, the Oklahoma Sooners hold a two-win and two-loss record alongside a zero-one start within SEC competition. While offensive struggles have held the program back, Brent Venables has successfully stabilized the defensive unit to keep the squad competitive.

Interior lineman Jayden Jackson earned defensive MVP honors for his ability to plug running lanes and lead the roster in total pressures.

Additional standout contributors include David Stone, who managed to play through a dislocated kneecap, and newcomer edge rusher Jake Kruel, who maximized his limited pass-rush snaps. Despite initial tackling concerns that featured twenty-one misses against Michigan, the defense tightened up considerably over subsequent weeks against New Mexico and Georgia.
