After executing a specific gesture on the field, the receiver acknowledged to sideline reporter Jenny Dell that reaching New York for the award ceremony remains a primary goal alongside pursuing a national championship.

During the contest at Kinnick Stadium, quarterback Julian Sayin contributed three passing touchdowns and three hundred twenty-four yards. Smith hauled in eleven passes for two hundred six yards and two scores, while teammate Ja'Kobi Jackson added a rushing touchdown on fourteen carries under the direction of coach Ryan Day.
