During the third-place cricket playoff match at the Asian Games, Sri Lanka secured a bronze medal despite a controversial ruling by official Nitin Menon. Batter Nuwanidu Fernando was given out incorrectly by the on-field judge, sparking frustration due to the absence of the Decision Review System at the multi-sport event.
Tharindu Ratnayake contributed sixty-five runs and captain Sahan Arachige added thirty-three, lifting Sri Lanka to a total of 165 for nine. In response, Bangladesh was bundled out for 102 runs as Ratnayake also claimed two wickets for eighteen runs, sealing a 63-run victory for the Sri Lankan side.
