Marianne Vos concluded a challenging personal year by securing her 15th career world title at the UCI Gravel World Championships in Nannup. The Dutch cyclist became the first athlete to win two gravel world championships after outlasting Rosa Klöser in a 125.6km race featuring 3179m of climbing.
The victory was decided in the final kilometers when Klöser suffered a crash while attempting to navigate a technical descent, allowing Vos to ride solo to the finish line. Tiffany Cromwell also played a role in the race dynamics, having been caught by the lead duo on the Folly climb with 25km remaining.
Despite the competitive nature of the event, Vos expressed sympathy for her rival following the late-race accident.
