Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andrei Kuzmenko has stepped away from the club to travel back to his homeland following a devastating family tragedy. Team officials confirmed that his sixty-two-year-old father, Alexander, tragically lost his life after being attacked by a bear in Siberia.
Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas released an official statement offering the organization's complete backing to the forward and his relatives during this difficult period. In addition to this roster absence, the club is managing various lineup adjustments ahead of the upcoming campaign, including a week-to-week injury designation for forward Ben Kindel following a preseason contest against Columbus, alongside a series of player cuts and reassignments.
