NFL power rankings: Bills are No. 1, but nobody knows what to make of the Patriots right now

Three weeks into the 2026 NFL season, national power rankings from five major outlets show a stark contrast between the undefeated Buffalo Bills and the struggling New England Patriots. While the Bills sit atop four of those lists with an average position of 1.4 despite five turnovers in a 24-16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, the Patriots are causing massive disagreement among experts following a 35-6 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

New England spans a massive sixteen-spot spread across the rankings, with outlets placing the one-and-two squad anywhere from the fifteenth spot down to thirty-first as the two AFC East rivals prepare to face each other in Buffalo.
